CBSE practical supplementary exams for classes 10, 12 to begin on July 10, guidelines issued.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the Class 10 and 12 practical supplementary examinations from July 10 to July 15, 2025. 

Ahead of the exams, the Board has issued a detailed set of guidelines for candidates, schools and examination centres. Students can check the official notice on cbse.gov.in.

Separate Instructions for Classes 10 and 12

Class 12 students who are placed in the Repeat in Practical (RP) compartment category must appear for the practical exams only; their earlier theory marks will be retained. However, those under Repeat in Theory and Practical Both (RB) must take both theory and practical exams.

In Class 10, students must score 33 marks in total, combining theory and internal assessment. If a student was absent for internal assessment and is in the compartment category, they will be awarded pro-rata marks based on theory performance in the supplementary exam. No fresh internal assessments will be held as it is a year-long process.

Venue and Scheduling Details

Regular candidates will appear for practical exams in their respective schools, while private candidates must report to designated examination centres. If a centre lacks facilities for certain practicals, the regional office will arrange alternative venues nearby. Schools must coordinate with regional offices for external examiners for Class 12; internal examiners will be appointed by school authorities.

Mark Upload and Exam Conduct Guidelines

As per the CBSE guidelines, the practical marks must be uploaded to the CBSE portal on the same day as the examination. Once submitted, no changes will be entertained. Schools are tasked with preparing subject-wise lists, finalising exam dates in consultation with regional offices, and informing students well in advance.
