Selu, July 27, 2025: In a remarkable display of scientific
brilliance and innovation, 15-year-old Pooja Wayal, a student of L. K. R.
Rodge Prince English CBSE School, Selu, has earned a prestigious entry in the
London Book of World Records for successfully launching multiple self-made
rockets in a single day. This extraordinary feat not only places
Maharashtra and India on the global map of innovation but also establishes
Pooja as the only girl from Maharashtra—and India—to achieve such an honor at
such a young age. Her achievement is a shining testament to determination,
ingenuity, and the boundless potential of India’s youth.
On a single day, Pooja accomplished the extraordinary by launching over seven self-made rockets, each soaring to an impressive altitude of over 2,000 feet. What sets her achievement apart is her innovative use of everyday household materials to construct these rockets. Using an agarbatti packet as the body tube, PVC pipes, sugar, and cardboard, Pooja transformed simple items into high-flying marvels of engineering. Her resourcefulness and creativity highlight a rare combination of scientific curiosity and practical problem-solving, all nurtured from the comfort of her home.
Dr. Sanjay Rodge, Founder Chairman of Shriram Pratishthan, extended his heartfelt wishes, stating, “Pooja Wayal’s extraordinary achievement in the London Book of World Records fills us with immense pride. Her innovative spirit and dedication reflect the essence of our mission to foster skill-based education and scientific curiosity. On behalf of Shriram Pratishthan, I extend my warmest congratulations to Pooja and wish her continued success in soaring to new heights, inspiring her peers, and making Maharashtra and India proud.”
The school’s Principal, Mr. Kartik Ratnala, added, “Pooja’s success is a testament to the innovative environment we cultivate at Prince English School, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020. Her achievement in rocketry complements our efforts through initiatives like the Composite Skill Lab and Joyful Saturday activities, which encourage hands-on learning and creativity.”
Pooja’s groundbreaking work is a beacon of inspiration for young innovators across India. As the only girl from Maharashtra to launch multiple rockets within the state at such a young age, she embodies the spirit of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) and the ethos of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter). Her achievement underscores the limitless potential of India’s youth when provided with opportunities to explore, innovate, and excel.
In her heartfelt message, Pooja expressed gratitude, saying, “I am deeply honored to be recognized by the London Book of World Records. I thank my teachers, family, and community for their support and blessings. I promise to keep flying high and making my school, Maharashtra, and India proud.” Her words reflect her determination to continue pushing boundaries and inspiring others.
Pooja Wayal’s name now shines brightly in the London Book of World Records, but more importantly, her story ignites hope and ambition in countless young minds across India. As she continues to soar, she carries with her the pride of Maharashtra and the aspirations of a nation. Here’s to Pooja, a true rocket innovator and a symbol of India’s bright future!
