History: 15-Year-Old Girl From Maharashtra Enters London Book of World Records.
Mumbai, Maharashtra, India | August 2,
2025:
In a historic scientific breakthrough from
India, Pooja Wayal, a 15-year-old student from LKRR Prince English CBSE School
in Maharashtra, has earned global recognition by securing a place in the London
Book of World Records. Her achievement? Successfully designing and launching
over seven self-made rockets in a single day, each reaching altitudes above
2,000 feet.
What makes this feat extraordinary is not
only the number of rockets but also Pooja's resourcefulness and creativity.
Using everyday household items—incense stick packets as body tubes, PVC pipes,
sugar, and cardboard—she crafted powerful model rockets entirely at home. Her
achievement is now being hailed as a powerful combination of scientific
innovation, ingenuity, and determination.
Pooja is the only girl from Maharashtra—and
India—to receive this prestigious honor at just 15 years of age, making her a
beacon of inspiration for young innovators around the world.
Her accomplishment is seen as a shining
representation of India’s national campaigns—‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India)
and ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ (Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter). In a
country where representation in science and technology is still evolving for
young girls, Pooja's trailblazing record has become a proud milestone.
“I sincerely thank all my teachers,
mentors, and especially my family for their unwavering support. Your blessings
inspire me to keep flying high and make India proud on a global stage,” said
Pooja after receiving the international accolade.
This landmark achievement was recently
honored in a special felicitation ceremony by Hon. Minister Meghana Bordikar,
Guardian Minister of Parbhani, who praised Pooja's contribution to science and
her role as a youth icon.
Pooja Wayal’s sky is not the limit—it’s just
the beginning of her launchpad
